California Road Slides Into Ocean After Storm

Thats right, the storm did it……..?

Couldn’t have anything to do with the endless barrage of earthquakes that california has been getting and no one has been reporting  could it ?

Heavy rain in southern California has caused a huge portion of a road to collapse into the sea, leaving a gaping hole in the side of a cliff.

A 900ft section of highway south of Los Angeles crumbled and fell into the Pacific Ocean on Sunday.

The section of Paseo Del Mar in the San Pedro area has been edging seawards for months but this is the first time a sizeable chunk has broken away completely.

The scenic route was closed several months ago when splits began to appear in the road.

The area has seen decades of house-building and some blame the construction work for destabilising the cliff face.

Where there was once a flat road is now a chasm, 75ft deep at points, littered with broken concrete and fallen telegraph poles.

Engineer Gary Moore told the LA Times: “This entire coast along here is a cliff, so nature has created a new cliff.”

The mayor of Los Angeles described it as a “significant landslide” and urged people to stay away from the affected stretch of road.

“The landslide area remains unstable and presents a life-threatening hazard,” Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said in a statement.

There are no reports of injuries or property damage in the immediate area.
